How to Get Soul Shards in Soul's Crossover X

Farm boss drops, fill pity, and craft souls at Sans Crafting.

Last updated:

Soul Shards are boss-drop materials that forge into playable souls at Sans Crafting in the Soul’s Crossover X lobby. Without shards you stay on the Human Soul while players with Patience or Determination clear Hotland faster. This guide covers drop sources, the pity system, crafting costs, and how shards feed the endgame Seven Soul recipe.

What Soul Shards are for

Each soul type (Patience, Integrity, Kindness, Perseverance, Justice, Bravery, Determination, Seven, plus event types like Super Saiyan) has matching shards. Typically you need two shards of the same type, Gold, sometimes Gems, and a level requirement to craft at Sans.

Crafted souls grant stat buffs and occasional passives that define your build. Cross-reference the Tier List before crafting duplicates you will never equip.

How to get Soul Shards

Shards drop primarily from boss kills, not trash mobs. Key associations (see Enemy Drops for rates):

Drop chances range from generous (Integrity ~20%) to brutal (Determination ~2%). Plan multiple kills.

Pity system explained

When RNG fails, Soul’s Crossover X fills a hidden pity counter toward a guaranteed shard on a later kill of the same boss. If you earn a shard before pity maxes, pity resets to zero.

Practical tips:

  • Focus one boss until you have two shards — splitting pity across bosses slows every craft.
  • Track kills mentally or in notes; pity prevents infinite bad luck but still costs time.
  • Party kills count if you receive loot — confirm loot rules on your server.

Crafting at Sans

Walk to Sans Crafting in the lobby with materials ready:

  1. Patience — ~50 Gold + 2 Patience shards (early craft).
  2. Integrity — ~1,000 Gold + 2 Integrity shards.
  3. Kindness — ~2,500 Gold + 2 Kindness shards.
  4. Perseverance — ~5,000 Gold + 2 Perseverance shards.
  5. ** Justice** — ~10,000 Gold + 2 Justice shards.
  6. Bravery — ~25,000 Gold + 2 Bravery shards.
  7. Determination — Level 200 + 10,000 Gold + 2 Determination shards.
  8. Seven Soul2 of every shard type listed above + 100 Gems + 50,000 Gold at Sans.

Level gates block crafting even if you lucked shards early — grind EXP via How to Beat Bosses before returning.

Follow this sequence for smooth power jumps:

  1. Toriel → Patience (first soul upgrade).
  2. Papyrus → Integrity (Snowdin checkpoint).
  3. Undyne → Kindness / Perseverance prep.
  4. Muffet & Mettaton → Hotland souls before Judgement Hall.
  5. Late bosses → Bravery and Determination for Seven Soul prep.
  6. DBZ → Super Saiyan shards after 2 Resets.

Between bosses, spend 5 Gems at Frisk on your main spell — shard farms die faster with DPS.

Seven Soul shard checklist

The Seven Soul is the ultimate collection craft. You need two Seven Soul Shards plus two of each standard trait shard (Patience through Determination), 100 Gems, and 50,000 Gold. Treat this as a spreadsheet project:

  • Column per shard type; mark 0/2 progress.
  • Do not sell or trade shards if trading exists in patch.
  • Bank Gems from resets instead of reforge spam late game.

Seven Soul is the best well-rounded option if you want one soul instead of min-maxing five swaps — see Review for opinions.

Souls without shards

Some souls (example: Temmie Soul) buy from shops with Gold only — no shard grind. Shop inventory still respects level locks; talk to vendors before farming the wrong boss.

Event shards: Super Saiyan

Super Saiyan Soul Shards drop in the Dragon Ball zone (~5% from Son Koku). Craft at Bulma in Kame House, not Sans — full recipe in How to Get Super Saiyan Soul. Requires 250 Release Tokens, 250,000 Gold, 100 Gems, level 200, and 2 shards.

Common mistakes

  • Crafting without level requirement — wastes inventory space.
  • Ignoring pity by boss-hopping every single kill.
  • Selling Gold before Determination craft (10k+ costs stack).
  • Skipping Map and missing boss portals.

After you craft

Equip the soul, reforge spells, push toward Reset 1 at level ~250, and index completion for bonus Gems if the game tracks collection.

Shard farming is the core loop of Soul’s Crossover X — bosses, pity, Sans, repeat until Seven Soul glows in your inventory. More routes on Enemy Drops and the Guides Hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Where do Soul Shards drop in Soul's Crossover X?

Bosses drop specific shard types — Toriel for Patience, Papyrus for Integrity, Muffet for Perseverance, Mettaton for Justice, and so on. See Enemy Drops for full tables.

Does Soul's Crossover X have a shard pity system?

Yes. Failed shard rolls build pity until the next kill guarantees a drop for that boss. Getting a shard early resets pity to zero.

How many shards do you need to craft a soul?

Most souls require two shards of the same type plus Gold at Sans Crafting. Seven Soul needs two of every major shard type plus 100 Gems and 50,000 Gold.

What level for Determination Soul?

Determination typically requires level 200, 10,000 Gold, and two Determination Soul Shards at Sans Crafting.

Are Super Saiyan Soul Shards different?

Yes. They drop in the DBZ event from Son Koku and craft at Bulma in Kame House with Release Tokens — not at Sans.
