Soul's Crossover X Armor Tier List

Every armor piece ranked S through D with stats, drop rates, and set synergy for July 2026.

Last updated:

Armor in Soul’s Crossover X is easy to overlook when souls and weapons steal the spotlight, but the right chest piece or accessory can add thousands of HP, extra melee damage, and the mobility to dodge boss patterns. This July 2026 armor tier list ranks every notable armor drop, shop purchase, and craft so you farm Chara and Underswap bosses for pieces that actually stick on your build through endgame.

Pair armor picks with souls from the Souls tier list, weapons from the Weapons tier list, and set bonuses on Sets. Drop rates and vendor prices come from current community testing — cross-check Enemy Drops before committing a long farm session.

S Tier — Endgame armor kings

True Locket

True Locket is the crown jewel of Barrier farming. It drops 20% from Chara and grants +5000 HP, +3 Jump Power, +5 Walk Speed, +1000 Mana, and +33 Melee Damage. Those numbers alone would justify S-tier, but True Locket also completes the Erased Set alongside Real Knife and Determination Soul — one of the strongest damage-and-survival packages in UTSRX.

If you are chasing the Endgame Build, True Locket is non-negotiable. Farm Chara in the Barrier with a party when possible; the 20% rate still means multiple kills before you see one. Do not reforge or enchant D-tier placeholders while waiting — bank Gems for your keeper piece instead.

Swap Locket

Swap Locket drops 2% from US Papyrus in Underswap and outstats True Locket on raw totals: +8500 HP, +4 Jump, +4 Walk Speed, +2000 Mana, and +55 Melee Damage. The brutal drop rate keeps it S-tier for stat value but A-tier for accessibility — most players will never see one without dedicated Underswap routes.

When Swap Locket finally drops, it replaces True Locket in pure stat builds unless you still need Erased Set completion. Hybrid accounts keep True Locket for the set bonus and equip Swap Locket only during open-world farming where raw melee matters more than percentage bonuses.

A Tier — Reliable mid-to-late game

Metta’s TV

Metta’s TV drops 10% from Mettaton EX in the Lab. It offers strong defensive totals and pairs naturally with Justice Soul players who already farm Hotland bosses. Not quite True Locket numbers, but far easier to obtain than Barrier drops.

Heart Locket

Heart Locket buys from Muffet’s Shop at level 150 for 15,000 Gold. No RNG — just grind levels and gold. The flat HP boost stabilizes Hotland and early Judgement Hall runs while you save for Bravery or Determination crafts. Redeem Codes for gold bumps if you are close to the price tag.

Wings of NEO

Wings of NEO crafts at Sans Crafting with materials from late-game bosses. Craftable acquisition beats 2% Underswap RNG for players who prefer guaranteed progression. Stats favor mobility and mana — strong for spell hybrid builds using weapons from the Weapons tier list.

Tem Armor

Tem Armor sells at the Tem Shop for 15 Gems at level 30. It completes the Tem Set with Tem Soul and Tem Katana for exploration-focused loadouts. Damage totals lag behind boss drops, but the gem price and early level gate make Tem Armor one of the best value purchases in the first post-Human-Soul hours.

B Tier — Set pieces and sidegrades

Stained Apron

Stained Apron is a mid-game drop with modest HP and no standout passive. Useful as a temporary upgrade off shop gear, but replace once Heart Locket or a boss drop appears. Do not spend Gems enchanting B-tier armor you will discard within a session.

Cowboy Hat

Cowboy Hat is never just a hat — it is a Justice Set piece alongside Empty Gun and Justice Soul. The set grants +20% DMG and regen bonuses that punch above Cowboy Hat’s individual stats. Buy from Muffet’s Shop when building Justice and keep it even after upgrading chest armor. Full numbers live on Sets.

C Tier — Early replacements

Manly Bandana

Manly Bandana offers small stat bumps for accounts still on Human Soul. Acceptable for the first hour, then sell or stash. Integrity-era players should skip entirely.

Cloudy Glasses

Cloudy Glasses add minor mana and defense — fine for learning boss telegraphs, outgrown by Perseverance Soul progression. Check Enemy Drops for the next upgrade path instead of reforging these.

Lesser Armor

Lesser Armor sits between starter gear and shop purchases. Replace with Heart Locket or Tem Armor as soon as level and currency allow.

D Tier — Starter and quest gear

Bandage

Bandage is default or quest reward armor with negligible bonuses. Replace immediately after Getting Started — do not enchant.

Faded Ribbon

Faded Ribbon offers flavor stats only. Keep for collection if the game tracks index completion; never equip in combat.

Froggit Legs

Froggit Legs drop from early Ruins content. They teach the armor slot exists, then belong in storage once Patience Soul is crafted.

How we rank armor

  1. Flat stat totals — HP, mana, melee damage, walk, and jump at equip level.
  2. Set synergy — True Locket and Cowboy Hat gain tiers from Erased and Justice Set completion.
  3. Acquisition — Shop gold vs gem cost vs boss drop rate.
  4. Long-term value — Whether the piece stays relevant after Seven Souls and Frisk Knife.
  5. Enchant/reforge readiness — Only A-tier and above deserve post-reforge enchant rolls.

Armor progression roadmap

Bandage → shop sidegrade → Tem Armor or Heart Locket → Metta’s TV or Wings of NEO → True Locket (Erased Set) → optional Swap Locket farm.

Parallel track: Cowboy Hat early for Justice Set even if chest armor upgrades later.

Farming efficiency

  • Party Chara kills improve True Locket drop-per-hour at 20% rate.
  • Unlock Underswap before committing to Swap Locket — the 2% rate demands optimized respawn routes.
  • Save 15 Gems for Tem Armor at level 30 instead of impulse reforges.
  • Match armor to soul — Determination’s huge HP pools multiply the value of True Locket’s flat bonuses.
  • Redeem Codes for gold toward Heart Locket and gems toward Tem Armor.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best armor in Soul's Crossover X?

Swap Locket has the highest raw stats (+8500 HP, +55 melee) but drops at 2% from US Papyrus. True Locket is the practical S-tier pick with +5000 HP and +33 melee at 20% from Chara, plus Erased Set synergy.

Is True Locket worth farming before Seven Souls?

Yes if you are building Erased Set. True Locket, Real Knife, and Determination Soul together offer one of the best endgame packages. Farm Chara while grinding Determination shards to save time.

Should I buy Tem Armor or Heart Locket first?

Tem Armor at level 30 for 15 Gems is the better early buy — it unlocks Tem Set mobility. Heart Locket at level 150 for 15k gold is the mid-game defensive spike when Hotland bosses start hurting.

Does Cowboy Hat stay relevant late game?

Yes as a Justice Set piece. Even with upgraded chest armor, Cowboy Hat plus Empty Gun and Justice Soul keeps the +20% DMG set bonus active. See the Sets tier list for full numbers.

Where does Swap Locket drop?

Swap Locket drops from US Papyrus in the Underswap zone at roughly 2% rate. Unlock Underswap with at least one reset, then farm with optimized respawn routes or a party.
