Soul's Crossover X Beginner Build Guide
From Human Soul to your first real loadout — souls, shop weapons, and early boss routes.
This beginner build walks new Soul’s Crossover X players from the default Human Soul to a competent mid-game loadout without wasting gold, gems, or hours on the wrong bosses. Follow it during your first sessions after completing the tutorial and redeeming Codes.
If you have never played UTSRX before, read Getting Started first for controls and lobby layout. This guide assumes you know where Sans Crafting, Muffet’s Shop, and the Tem Shop are located.
Starting loadout — what to replace first
Every account begins with:
- Human Soul (D-tier — replace immediately)
- A basic starter weapon with low DPS
- No set bonuses
Your first milestone is Patience Soul: 50 Gold and 2 Patience Soul Shards at Sans Crafting. Patience adds +250 HP/Mana — small numbers, but a massive jump over Human Soul. Farm the earliest boss that drops Patience shards (check world map markers in-game) until you have two.
Phase 1 — First crafts (levels 1–20)
Soul path
- Patience Soul — 50 Gold, 2 shards
- Integrity Soul — 1,000 Gold, 2 Integrity shards
- Kindness Soul (optional but recommended) — 2,500 Gold, 2 Kindness shards
Kindness ranks lower on raw stats but its Guardian’s Grace passive heals 25 HP per kill and blocks one hit every 15 seconds. For learning boss patterns, Kindness saves more time than Integrity’s extra HP. See the Souls tier list for full comparisons.
Weapon path
Visit shops before chasing boss drops:
- Worn Dagger — first affordable damage upgrade
- Empty Gun — 7,500 Gold at Muffet’s Shop (save toward Justice Set)
- Cowboy Hat — 7,500 Gold (Justice Set armor piece)
Do not buy Torn Notebook unless you specifically want spell hybrid play — melee DPS wins early progression. Weapon details on the Weapons tier list.
Phase 2 — Justice Set spike (levels 20–40)
Once you can farm Justice Soul Shards from Mettaton or Mettaton EX in the Lab:
- Craft Justice Soul — 10,000 Gold, 2 shards
- Equip Empty Gun + Cowboy Hat + Justice Soul together
Justice Set bonuses: +20% DMG, +10% crit damage, regen boosts, +3 walk speed. This is your first major power spike — you will feel it immediately in Hotland and Waterfall bosses.
Total gold investment: roughly 25,000 plus shard farming time. Redeem codes and daily rewards from Codes to close gold gaps.
Phase 3 — Branch choices (levels 30–50)
At level 30 you unlock the Tem Shop:
- Tem Soul — 100 Gems, +15 Jump Power (best mobility in game)
- Tem Armor — 15 Gems
If you love exploration, buy Tem Soul and farm Temmie for the Debt and Dreams title to complete Tem Set. For pure boss progression, skip Tem and save 100 Gems toward eventual Seven Souls crafting instead.
Parallel soul crafts:
- Perseverance Soul — Muffet shards, +1000 HP
- Continue toward Bravery and Determination only when Justice Set feels slow
Recommended beginner stats priority
- Exit Human Soul (Patience)
- Complete Justice Set (best ROI)
- Craft Kindness if dying often
- Save gems — do not reforge starter gear heavily
- Buy Tem Soul only if mobility matters more than combat
First bosses to learn
| Boss area | Why visit | Drops you need |
|---|---|---|
| Early Ruins | Patience/Integrity shards | First crafts |
| Hotland | Muffet, Perseverance shards | Mid souls |
| Lab | Mettaton, Justice shards | Justice Set |
| Dummy | Kindness shards | Shield passive |
Party up when possible — Soul’s Crossover X supports up to 10 players per server.
Common beginner mistakes
- Reforging D-tier weapons — Wait until Empty Gun or a boss drop justifies 5 Gems per roll. Use Tools wisely.
- Skipping sets — Empty Gun alone is mediocre; Justice Set makes it A-tier.
- Hoarding gems for Tem Soul — Fine for explorers; fighters should bank 100 for Seven Souls endgame.
- Ignoring codes — Like the game, follow Noctyra, join the group — requirements listed on Codes.
- Farming Chara too early — Real Knife and Erased Set are endgame goals on Endgame Build.
When to graduate from this build
Move to the endgame guide when:
- Justice Set is complete and Mettaton feels trivial
- You have 10,000+ gold banked per session
- You are ready to farm Bravery (Asgore) and Determination (Chara) shards
- Your eye is on Seven Souls and Erased Set
Quick reference loadout
Minimum viable beginner: Patience Soul + Worn Dagger
Recommended beginner: Justice Set (Empty Gun, Cowboy Hat, Justice Soul)
Safe learner: Kindness Soul + Empty Gun (shield passive while practicing)
Explorer side build: Tem Soul + Tem Armor + title (see Tem Set)

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I craft first in Soul's Crossover X?
Craft Patience Soul immediately to replace Human Soul — only 50 Gold and 2 Patience Soul Shards. Then work toward Integrity or Kindness before building Justice Set.
Is Justice Set worth it for beginners?
Yes. Empty Gun, Cowboy Hat, and Justice Soul together grant +20% damage and strong regen for about 25,000 total gold — the best early power spike in the game.
Should beginners buy Tem Soul?
Only if you want maximum jump mobility for exploration. Combat-focused beginners should save 100 Gems for Seven Souls crafting later instead.
When do I stop using this build?
Graduate to the Endgame Build once Justice Set is complete and you can farm Asgore and Chara for Bravery, Determination, and Erased Set pieces.
